About this event

Trail blazing US abolitionist and activist Fredrick Douglass visited Belfast in 1845 as part of his lecture tour in Ireland.

He had a profound impact on Belfast and continues to inspire citizens to this very day.

This new self-guided publication researched and produced by leading academic Christine Kinealy, supported by Belfast Media Group and Fáilte Feirste Thiar, will retrace his steps in Belfast and provide locals and visitors the opportunity to visit places associated with Fredrick Douglass’ time in Belfast.

Join us for the virtual launch of The Fredrick Douglass Belfast Trail and embark on a self-guided tour through Belfast to discover the sites associated with his visit and be inspired by the great man.

Thug an daonfhuascailteoir agus an gníomhaí ceannródaíoch Fredrick Douglass cuairt ar Bhéal Feirste ó SA in 1845 mar chuid dá chamchuairt léachtaí in Éirinn. Bhí an-tionchar aige ar Bhéal Feirste a spreagann saoránaigh go fóill sa lá atá inniu.

Rachaidh an foilseachán féintreoraithe seo, arna dhéanamh ag an phríomhacadóir Christine Kinealy a rinne taighde air, tacaithe ag Grúpa Meán Bhéal Feirste agus Fáilte Feirste Thiar, siar ar an am a chaith sé i mBéal Feirste. Tabharfaidh sé deis do dhaoine áitiúla agus do chuairteoirí cuairt a thabhairt ar na háiteanna sin a raibh ceangal acu le Fredrick Douglass nuair a bhí sé i mBéal Feirste chomh maith.

Bí linn nuair a sheolfar Conair Bhéal Feirste Fredrick Douglass go fíorúil agus gabh ar thuras féintreoraithe ar fud Bhéal Feirste agus tar ar na háiteanna a raibh ceangal acu lena chuairt agus bíodh an fear iontach seo do do spreagadh féin.
