The annual Plastic Bullets Vigil at Groves Reilly Corner is an opportunity to remember those whose lives were cut short by the state’s use of rubber and plastic bullets.

The vigil serves as a reminder of the bereaved families’ pursuit of truth and justice in the context of structural state impunity. This year Belfast saw the use of plastic bullets during civil disorder. Plastic bullets have no place in modern policing, and no place in a contested transitional society. The annual plastic bullet vigil is an opportunity to remind policy makers that civil society calls for a total ban on plastic bullets has not gone away. Organised by Relatives for Justice.

Is deis í Bigil Bhliantúil na bPiléar Plaisteach ag Coirnéal Groves-Reilly le cuimhniú ar na daoine a maraíodh nó a gortaíodh de dheasca úsáid bharbartha stáit na bpiléar rubair nó plaisteach.

Tugann sé chun cuimhne dúinn iarrachtaí na dteaghlach a bhfuil a ndaoine muinteartha leo i ndiaidh báis an fhírinne agus ceartas a bhaint amach i gcomhthéacs gan baol pionós struchtúrtha an stáit. Úsáideadh piléir phlaisteacha i rith ainrialach sibhialta i mBéal Feirste i mbliana. Níor chóir go núsáidfí piléir phlaisteacha i bpóilíneacht nua-aimseartha agus i sochaí idirthréimhseach atá in aghaidh a chéile.

Is deis í Bigil Bhliantúil na bPiléar Plaisteach le cur i gcuimhne don lucht déanta beartas go n-éilíonn an tsochaí shibhialta ar chosc iomlán ar philéir phlaisteacha go fóill. Eagraithe ag Gaolta um Cheartas.
